FAREWELL FROM LEEA

Ralph Waldo Emerson said it best that “life is a journey, not a destination.” And what an amazing journey it’s been! When this chapter was officially sanctioned 3 years ago, no one really knew what was in store. We didn’t have a precedent to go by, no nearby chapter to guide us….just a core group of AMAZING Alabama fans who were ready to get to work. We all rolled up our sleeves and just did it.  I never dreamed that “Our Little Chapter That Could” would turn into the “Little Chapter That Did!”
Through everyone’s tireless effort to see the chapter succeed, we achieved our biggest goal of endowing our High Rolling Tide In Vegas Endowed Scholarship! Our first scholarship recipient will be for the 2018 year.
Over the past 3 years, we have seen our game day parties grow from just a few to overflowing crowds. Our community service projects have not only helped those in need, it’s lead to introductions of partnerships that drastically improve the quality of life for Veterans Village. Our student send off’s have helped local graduates (and parents) network with each other and navigate the move to UA with a friend beside them.
Through it all, the absolute BEST part has been the friendships I’ve made along the way.  I want to give a special thank you to our board; Michelle, Sherry, Michael, Ann and Stephany.  You all have been the backbone of the chapter and none of the success would have been able to happen without you guys leading the charge.  To our beloved Maggie who is our biggest cheerleader and website extraordinaire, many thanks for your tireless devotion! And Bob…what to say about a man who single handily can turn a normal game watching party into the best party in town? Your spirit and drive makes people come back week after week and was the reason we were able to endow the scholarship 2 years early!
Although my term is up, I am not leaving. You will still see me on game days and all things BAMA in Las Vegas. Michelle, Joel, Sherry, Michael and Jill will continue to build on our solid foundation and take our chapter to the next level.  I can’t wait to see what is to come! It has been an honor to serve as President and I am beyond thankful for all of the support and encouragement along the way. “This is not goodbye, my darling, this is a thank you.” Nicholas Sparks.
Roll Tide!
